2012 sees the city of London hosting the Olympic Games. This international event will be followed with interest all over the world, and promises to attract visitors from every country to the UK, as well as offering an opportunity to develop the community.
In the spirit of unity and involvement, Coptic Youth Mission will be celebrating 2012 too! The events and activities organised by CYM over the next year will follow the theme of ‘Running the Race’ as in 2 Timothy 4:7.

2012 Summer Coptic Youth Conference Planning Meeting
Saturday, 19 May 2012, 15:00-18:00 at the Coptic Centre
This year's summer conference is going to be massive. Come and make it even bigger.
Join us for the LAUNCH of the CYM 2012 Torch Relay, on Bank Holiday Monday 7th May in Brighton! There will be a day of fun, food and fellowship, with a BBQ and activities hosted by the youth at Anba Abraam.
The torch will then be working its way up through events hosted in Croydon, Kensington, Golders Green and ending up in Stevenage in August for the 2012 Summer Youth Conference! Each parish will be organising a huge event to celebrate, in memory of His Holiness Pope Shenouda, who has already 'Run the Race' and 'Fought the Good Fight'. Please come and support your parish.
Dates:
7th MAY: St Mary & St Abraam 25th MAY: St Mary & St Shenouda
8th JUNE: St Mark 20th JULY: St George
3rd AUG: St Mary & Archangel Michael
16th AUG: SUMMER CONFERENCE, Coptic Church Centre, Stevenage
Prayers will be written on a list, beginning in Brighton on May 7th, rolled up and carried from church to church, finally ending up at the Summer Conference to be laid on the alter during the Liturgy on Sunday morning.
Come and add your prayers for this wonderful blessing, and historic journey!
We are now in association with 'More Than Gold' on this project, which we pray will give us more opportunities to spread the message far and wide over the course of 2012.
Within our partnership, we hope toinvolve Coptic City Mission to address homelessness during the period of the Olympic Games in London. We also plan to hve an active Stewardship program, where Coptic Youth will go out to people attending the games, handing out cold water and meeting them with the word of God. Locally, we are planning 'Festival Days' at the Coptic Orthodox Church Centre, with big screens to watch the olympic games on, BBQs for the local community and fun for kids too.
